One big thing I learned and helped improve through blogging was showing my voice in my writing. I don't always have to be a monotonous robot, I can let a little bit of emotion shine through. Also trying to be a bit humorous for a change was fun, even if I was not very good at it. I would definitely say that blogging is beneficial because you are able to have fun and I would do blogging assignments over conventional english homework because I can actually look forward to writing because it is fun and enjoyable. I have always hated english class in the past but can honestly say that this was my first fun english class in my educational career. I can't believe I am saying english is fun, but after this semester I am relieved to say it.

I can not believe this is my final post for this blog. These past 8 weeks just blazed right by. It feels like just yesterday was my first day of English 102. I can honestly say that I enjoyed blogging. It was a fun experience to be able to see what blogging is all about considering that I have always been curious. I would say that I took it seriously as if I was a regular person in a blog. The benefits to blogging are being able to express yourself and being able to just state your true feelings on certain topics. A few challenges I ran into were trying to come up with a self generated topic. Writing about it was the easy part. Thinking back on it, naming my blog was difficult too. I wish I would have come up with something more creative than, "go hawks". I mean, how original is that? Not at all.
Entry #10. Final's week, Ugh
Everyone's favorite month is finally here and I can safely say that it is the most stressful as well. Especially with all of the traffic everywhere, christmas shopping, and last but definitely not least (or is it?) finals. With finals around the corner I can say that my stress levels are peaking. I have been getting lots of hours at work because of the holidays, and between going to classes I have to find time to study for finals. Fortunately there are some things you might be able to do in order to make it a little bit easier.
First of all, RELAX. It will be okay. Stressing out is okay and all but you should not stress out about things that are your control. Like when will that test be graded? Unfortunately you cant control that and you should stop stressing about it.
Second and maybe most important, is to set up a study schedule. Set aside 30 minute increments to study and you will be successful.
A third one I can think of is to get enough sleep. Sleep is crucial for retaining information.
Do you have any other ideas on how to lower stress around this crazy time of the year? If so, let me know down below! Thanks for your feedback, have a great christmas and good luck on all of your finals!

Blog #9. Power of Media
Ever since really learning about rhetoric, I have noticed a big difference in how I receive things from the media. Especially on the news and what they report, but most importantly, how they report it. Take for example Obama's presidency and how the media portrays it. Because they portray his presidency in a majorly negative way, a lot of people like to say that he is the worst president in the history of the United States. I am no expert, but I have seen diagrams (with legit sources) on how he has done a lot of good things. He has improved the unemployment rate (if I remember correctly) and a few others that I cant remember. Unfortunately there are a ton of people that believe what they see and immediately say he is the worst president in the world. I think that we should support the leaders of our country instead of saying they should be put in jail or even worse things. I have also noticed that when there is a "white on black" (or vice versa) crime, it is blown out of proportion. I have noticed that I tend to dig a little deeper than headlines rather than jump to a conclusion because of a title. I believe learning about rhetoric and how to apply it has helped me in everyday life by being more aware. What do you guys think? Maybe you guys can try to see rhetoric in things and see what kind of reaction you're supposed to give and instead think about it a little more. Have a great night!

Blog #9. Seahawks Win!
Good afternoon everyone! How many of you guys enjoy watching football? Well today my Seahawks beat the Steelers in a close game. It was an important game for both teams considering all of the playoff implications. Since Seattle won, they are closer to making it into the playoffs with a wildcard spot. On the other hand, the Steelers are farther away from getting into the playoffs with a wild card spot. Russell Wilson had one of the best games of his career throwing for 5 touchdowns. Seattle is gaining some important momentum going into the playoff times of the year. Hopefully they can keep this going down the stretch and make a deep playoff run, and maybe even the superbowl. What team do you guys enjoy watching? How are their playoff chances? Have a great night everyone. I hope you had a great weekend and an awesome holiday.
Blog #7. Dumb Men.
Hello everyone! I recently visited www.dumbmen.com and at first glance you can see that it was made to show the stereotypes of men in commercials. Rhetoric wise I can see this website as a form of entertainment for people but can also show stereotypes that people might not know about. Personally, I thought that it was entertaining and funny.I watched the commercial where the woman told the man she was the father of one of her kids. He thinks she means back from a trip in Cancun. I don't think this would ever really happen in real life. I think the guy would be more weirded out than anything. I think this commercial was made to be funny and entertaining to everyone. What do you guys think about the website? Hopefully you guys find it entertaining and not offensive. Well have a great rest of your weekend! -Oscar

Extra Credit Post. Capitalism.
This was the first time for me watching the documentary, "Capitalism". I was very surprised by the content. I am not too educated on capitalism and politics and what not but found some of the content disturbing. Especially the fact that companies were taking out life insurance policies on employees in order to make some more money. Especially to learn that walmart, bank of america and other bog companies did this. It was also sad to see moore's father and how his old workplace was being destroyed. It is crazy to think that back in the 50's a man could have a factory job and the woman did not have to work if she did not want to. What are your guy's thoughts on the film? Have a good rest of your day guys!
Blog #6. Japanese Friendship Garden Visit
This past Wednesday my girlfriend and I decided to visit the Japanese Friendship Garden in downtown Phoenix. I kind of felt as if though it was going to be boring but said I would go because we had nothing else to do. When we got there and went in to pay, the lady was super nice and seemed very passionate about the garden. She proceeded to offer us koi fish food and I was skeptical and just thought she was trying to sell us something but I went ahead and bought some koi fish food. The garden was not huge by any means but it actually turned out to be a lot of fun. The fish were HUGE! me and my girlfriend joked that this is where I should come fishing. As soon as the fish saw people they came right up and were not scared. It was a ton of fun and my girlfriend was able to actually pet the fish. It was a lot of fun and everyone should check it out if you can! Well have a good week guys! See you next time!
Blog #5. ASU and 7.5 week classes
Good morning everyone! After reading the article I feel as if though the 7.5 week classes would be nice. I also agree though that with some classes it might make them feel too crammed. I dont think you could do a 7.5 week class for a calculus class because you would not have enough time to study and absorb all the material before the tests came up. For certain classes though like english, sociology, psychology, etc. this could be super helpful. I like the idea of taking these courses at a faster rate in order to not only finish faster but allow us to make better use of out time. If GCC offered classes like this I would definitely sign up! What do you guys think?
Have a good day, guys!

Blog #4. Potty Training.... Cats?
Are you tired of kitty litter? I know my girlfriend was! I helped her potty train our cat "Tiny". We had seen cats using the bathroom on human toilets before and never believed it was possible until we tried the litter quitter. It is basically a system that progresses the cat through different levels and eventually he doesn't need anymore litter. It was hilarious at first but it is a lifesaver because the bathroom no longer smells and there is no more annoying litter everywhere. If you want your cat to go in the toilet I recommend the litter quitter! Well thanks for stopping in, have a good rest of your weekend guys!
Blog #3. Slanted Reporting
http://www.fox46charlotte.com/home/trending-news/37733829-story
Apparently a soccer player got a cramp during the game and a football player that was in the stands shouted "get that boy a banana". He happened to be African American so people think it was a racist remark. The reality is that bananas have potassium and help with cramps. I don't think anybody would have made it a big deal if the player that got a cramp was not African American. The news channel made it a slanted article/report because the title said, "player makes "racist" remark". That tells us to side with the "victim" when there was never any racist remark. What do you think? Thanks for stopping in, have a good rest of your weekend!

Entry #2. The Walking Dead *Spoiler Alert*
Hello everyone! Does anybody else watch The Walking Dead? (TWD) It has been one of the best shows I have seen... a close second behind Breaking Bad. Season 6 so far has been CRAAAZY. Last week Glenn died and I could not believe it had happened. He has been a main character since season 1, episode 1. He saved Rick back in the day when he was stuck in the tank with the horde of zombies around him. This season has been a rollercoaster ride with their plan to get the walkers away from Alexandria going haywire. The wolves attacked Alexandria and in doing so, unintentionally sounded a loud horn, drawing all of the walkers away from their plan. I think tonight's show will show that Glenn is actually alive. I dont think he died because that is what everyone is saying. Well I guess we will all have to tune in and find out! Thanks for stopping in, have a good one!

Entry #1 What are blogs?
My opinion of blogs are that they are pretty cool, if I like what they are talking about. I read a seahawks blog every now and then at fieldgulls.com. It is fun to read about something that you are actually interested in.
http://www.dumblittleman.com/
This blog is pretty cool. It looks like it would be nice to read every morning to get your day jumpstarted. It offers tips and tricks on all kinds of things. The main subjects that it offers are happiness, money, success, howto, lifehacks, and health. It seems to me that this blog appeals to everyone. I enjoy reading these kinds of blogs with tips and fun facts to help in everyday life.
http://bitchphd.blogspot.com/
I did not enjoy this blog, it had an angry vibe to it. It was a feminist blog and appeals to a small amount of people. They use bad words and it is not very professional. I would not recommend this blog to my friends. There is not much to say except that I did not like it one bit.
http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/
This blog seemed pretty interesting of you are not too knowledgeable in finance and economics. It would be cool to read if you want to invest or know more about the economy. I have been wanting to invest my whole life and I think it would be so cool to make money off of the economy.
Hopefully you found something interesting here, thanks for reading my entry see you next time!

"Practice? We talking' about practice, man"
Hello Everyone! My name is Oscar Romero. My close family and friends call me different things like "Osc", "Oscat", "O", or "Guero" so I pretty much go by any of those. I have lots of different interests and enjoy doing lots of different things. I like to go outdoors and play sports like volleyball or football but I also enjoy playing new sports. Going hiking in new places is also a lot of fun. One of my favorite things to do is to go camping. There is just a feeling about being in the outdoors all day and getting away for a weekend where there are no worries and you can just relax. I love football, it is my favorite sport. So much so that I even play fantasy football... I am hoping I win this year because first place gets $400! Last year I placed 3rd so it is definitely a possibility. I recently became interested in archery bowhunting and I just got my bow this past Wednesday! I was like a kid on Christmas morning and I am so excited to start practicing. Oh and did I mention I am scouting for deer with my friend this Saturday for our hunt in December? I am super excited for it and hope one of us gets lucky and can get one!
My goals for my education are to get an associate's degree in dental hygiene at Phoenix college and then eventually one day to become a dentist. I have always had an interest in the health field, even as a little kid. I also enjoy helping people and making a difference in their lives because healthcare professionals have made a difference in mine. The baffling thing I have heard about dentists though, (not to mention back problems) is that they have an outrageous suicide rate... that is crazy to me.
Thanks for checking out my blog, have a nice day and don't forget... GO HAWKS ;)
